Southern Section Gala 2018

On Saturday 10 February 2018 Girls' College once again participated in a very successful Southern Section Gala. This year 4 schools competed in this annual tournament namely Girls' College, Petra College, Bulawayo Dominican Convent and Midlands Christian College (M.C.C.). Goldridge College were scheduled to participate, but had to pull out. This year the tournament was hosted by the Bulawayo Municipal Pool.

There was a full itinerary for the morning with a total of 54 race events divided by a tea break for the officials, staff and parents. Although no records were broken during this year's event, the quality of swimming by all the swimmers was of a very high standard. Held under the auspice of the Matabeleland Amateur Swimming Board the 4 schools competed for 3 trophies, namely the Stirling Trophy (for Individual points), the Matabeleland Amateur Swimming Board Shield, and the Davis Trophy (for Relay points).

The overall results for the morning's swimming can be seen in the table below along with a gallery of photos taken. Fielding 2 swim teams (A & B), Girls' College came away victorious and 'took home' all 3 of the trophies. We are so proud of our amazing swimmers and all their hard work and talent. Congratulations must also be given to our swim coaches and Sports Department staff members. This victory has earned Girls' College a place in the Finals Gala to be held in Harare in the near future.
