Weekend Sports Results For 19 November

On Saturday 19 November 2016 Girls' College once again hosted a very successful Junior Invitational Gala. This year 4 schools participated namely Girls' College, Christian Brothers' College (C.B.C.), Falcon College and Midlands Christian College (M.C.C.). With Midlands Christian being co-ed and able to enter both boys and girls, Girls' College teamed up with Christian Brothers' College and Falcon College.

There was a full itinerary for the morning with a total of 34 race events divided by a tea break for the officials, staff and parents. Just over half the races consisted of relays and if success is judged by the number of new records, this year the Junior Invitational was indeed a successful event with no fewer than 7 new swimming records covering the entire range of age groups. This year's new records were dominated by one name - Liam O'Hara of Falcon College. Special mention must go to the record he broke for the Open 100m Freestyle where Liam finished in under 1 minute! Well done Liam! As a comparison the world 100m Freestyle record is 46s:91 set by Brazilian swimmer C├ęsar Cielo in 2009 - Wikipedia.
